Hello! I’m an SF-based Illustrator, Artist, and Type Designer looking for opportunities to work in publishing and decorative illustration. I worked for many years in the mobile games industry as an Art Director (Zynga, PlayStudios) but have since become very illustration and type-focused. I recently illustrated my first book, (“Essential Life Skills for Boys” by Scott Todnam *Penguin/Random House) put out my first typeface (“Curiously” *FutureFonts) and illustrated a whole set of Jewish home decor products for Adara Rituals. A second book and typeface are both coming soon!
My BFA is in painting from CCA and I hold a post-graduate certificate in Type Design from Type West where I studied for a year with designers from top foundries like OHNO, A+, and Contrast Foundry and DJR) Endlessly curious, I have an active art practice, and I’m always taking a workshop of some kind. My motto is ‘Be kind and do your best.’
When I’m not playing with lines, colors or type I’m taking care of too many plants or walking my somewhat reactive young dog around the Excelsior district. Follow me on Instagram @marthasuecoursey to see more!
