Illustration, Lettering & Type Design

Big Run Branding

For mobile games company Big Run Studios, I developed a set of logos and visual design elements based on their mission and values. At the end of the process, I packaged it all up for them into a presentation template and a “brand toolkit” where you can see all the assets at a glance.

For many years I worked in mobile games in roles from illustrator to Art Director and Marketing Art Director. For one of the companies I worked with, Big Run Studios, in addition to in-game art direction, I provided the visual identity, word, and brand marks. This isn’t the role I’ve been in recently but I wanted to share why I’d be well-positioned to work on illustration-assisted branding with my combination of experience in illustration, marketing and type. While at Zynga, I often worked with large agencies which provided me with a lot of insight into branding processes, see below for the approach I took with Big Run.

The studio was started in 2019 by game industry veterans “who are passionate about delivering high-quality casual competitive games that entertain players across all mobile platforms.” They needed something simple enough to work next to a wide range of game types and that would embody the key ideas of “fun, modern, uplifting, social, mobile.”
